What our JC Achievers have to say...

  • Shiping | Victoria Junior College | Economics

I joined FAH because my friends recommended it, and I’m glad I did! The classes with Mr. Rubin are not only fun but also super helpful. The small class sizes mean the teacher can really focus on you, and Mr. Rubin has a friendly, interactive teaching style. The resources at FAH are excellent, especially the many case studies (CSQs) and essays we get to practice. These have really helped me sharpen my skills. Unlike school, where things can be more mundane, FAH focuses on teaching techniques, relatable examples, and answering strategies that actually get you the marks, rather than just memorising content like everyone else.

If you’re looking for a place where you can improve your grades and enjoy learning, I highly recommend joining FAH!

  • Miranda Lee | Nanyang Junior College | Chemistry

I love how the teacher is so encouraging and supportive, which makes the environment both lively and fun! The lessons are well-paced, allowing me to work at my own speed, and the immediate feedback I receive is really helpful for my learning. I also really appreciate how I can send in questions from my schoolwork and get help even outside of lesson time.

The tutor is super friendly, and the variety of questions we practice, especially from different schools, has really helped me improve. We started drilling papers early which was a game-changer! The notes provided are also fantastic as they summarise all the important content in just a few pages, making it easy to revise. I’ve also learned useful techniques like acronyms and keeping a 'common mistakes book' to improve my answering skills. I would definitely recommend this tuition centre to my friends!

  • Sylvia | Temasek Junior College | Economics

I joined FAH at the start of JC2 after experiencing the fear of being unable to cope with both Macro and Micro for H2 Econs. After attending FAH lessons, Mr Rubin has truly opened my eyes to the world of Econs and allowed me to enjoy learning the subject! I used to see Econs as rather boring due to the heavy content and lengthy notes, but FAH brings in in-depth critical thinking skills, and also real-life applications which show the relevance of Econs and strengthened my interest in the subject! The notes provided are concise and the short forms that he uses to help in our learning have also been very effective for us to recall. :) That also helped me a lot in terms of strengthening my evaluation and scoring the full marks in essays, which I had always struggled with prior to joining FAH.

After joining FAH, my grades went from being unstable in JC1 to consistent ‘A’s, and I even became one of the top scorers in school. FAH is definitely a place where many can find comfort in, yet is also a fun place to learn effectively! It’ll definitely be a worthwhile journey to join :)

  • Clarice Kee | Temasek Junior College | Physics

Before joining FAH, even though I put in a lot of hard work into Physics my grades were still bad and I wasn't sure why. After joining FAH, I realised I didn't really understand my concepts and was just memorising formulas rather than applying knowledge. Thankfully, after a few lessons I could understand the concepts better and I could see improvements in my grades

  • Zi Jun | Tampines Meridian Junior College | Economics

I really love and have always looked forward to classes at FAH because they made me love and develop a deeper appreciation of econs! Firstly, FAH’s notes are very concise compared to my school’s, summarising the topics into key concepts that helped me secure a strong foundation in econs. Classes were always interesting and further deepened my conceptual understanding of econs through the sharing of real-world scenarios, anecdotes, and current affairs by Mr Rubin. Classes at FAH are kept small, raising the quality of in-class discussions, where each student got adequate attention. Mr Rubin not only displays an infectious enthusiasm for the subject, but also always looks out for us, even spending time to talk to us when we feel overwhelmed during tough seasons, far exceeding his call of duty as our tutor. FAH also has a vibrant environment that lifts my spirits and conducive study spaces that enhance our learning experiences. Mr Rubin is also often readily available at FAH for consultations. By inculcating an appreciation for economics and how it drives the world around us, Mr Rubin has transformed a banal subject into one that I enjoyed studying!

From the bottom of my heart, I am truly grateful for FAH and Mr Rubin and would strongly recommend this centre to anyone!

  • Manan Awasthi | St Andrew's Junior College | Chemistry

The teaching style at FAH is very open and relaxed you can have fun while learning at the same time, which makes the experience much more enjoyable. The snacks are also a nice bonus! The classroom environment is great, as you can ask any question, even if it's about the most basic concept because of the small class sizes. The lessons have helped me understand Chemistry topics much better, especially Chemical Bonding, Organic Reactions, the Periodic Table, and Atomic Structure while the weekly practice sessions helped reinforce concepts I was already familiar with, like Reaction Mechanisms and Electrochemistry. His support helped me get a B for my prelim exams after struggling with a D for the past 1.5 years.

I would definitely recommend FAH to others! Not just for the environment, but because the teaching methods and explanations are closely aligned and more effective with what’s taught in schools, which is really useful during exams. The test papers and videos that Javen makes are incredibly helpful for reinforcing existing concepts, and the videos are highly detailed, making even the toughest topics easier to understand.

  • Sherman | Victoria Junior College | Economics

In FAH, we are provided with a cornucopia of learning resources ranging from model essays to detailed notes to help with our economic analysis and conceptual understanding. Beyond just going through the content in H2 Economics, Mr Rubin seeks to actively connect what we learn to things that are happening in the real world (e.g. the construction of the Tuas Megaport, rising inflation in the US), allowing us to glean deeper insight into the value of Economics in the real world, while helping us establish a rooted foundation in our content knowledge.

With the small class sizes, we are able to engage in active discussions which help us broaden our worldview and look at the world through the lenses of an Economist. Through classes at FAH, I learned that Economics is not a content subject that demands hours of rote learning to excel in. Mr Rubin also always availed himself for consultations whenever I needed it, and responded to any queries or doubts I had about what was taught in class. Outside of class, Mr Rubin was always enthusiastic to help us whenever we needed advice on life or higher education pathways, ensuring that we were also able to grow as humans and take away meaningful life lessons during our time in FAH.

Friendly, approachable and knowledgeable in Economics, Mr Rubin has instilled in me a strong foundation in Economics and an arsenal of useful skills which made Economics feel a lot easier to excel in. Personally, I would recommend FAH to anybody who wants Economics to feel like an enjoyable subject to study, and an easy subject to score in, as FAH helps us do just that.

  • Zeshon & Jeslyn | Tampines Meridian Junior College | Chemistry

The one-to-one learning environment has made a huge difference in my grades. The small class size allows for immediate help from the tutor, which helps me close any knowledge gaps quickly. The practice questions are well-prepared and closely resemble what came out in the exams, making me feel more confident and prepared.

Javen is friendly, encouraging, and always willing to provide guidance, creating a cozy and conducive classroom environment. Lessons are relaxed, and the selected questions for practice are always relevant to what we need to know. Overall, this has helped me see a significant improvement in my grades.

What our Secondary School Achievers have to say...

  • Joey Chew | Temasek Secondary | Chemistry

Mr. Javen is an incredibly relatable tutor who knows how to make the class fun and engaging. He knows when to give us a break and ensures that everyone is on the same page before moving forward. He is patient and willing to explain things in detail, even if it means going over something again. He is great at managing time so we make full use of the lesson, and he genuinely cares about our well-being

His classes have given me the confidence to attempt more challenging questions. Mr. Javen carefully curates worksheets based on our specific needs, which has made me more willing to tackle harder questions instead of leaving them blank like I used to. The notes are detailed, and the worksheets strike a perfect balance with a blend of difficult topics.

I’d definitely recommend FAH because the tutors are friendly, the lessons are anything but boring, and the atmosphere is always cheerful. Plus, there’s a wide array of snacks, which is a nice touch!

  • Ginny & Sheza | Dunman Secondary | Chemistry & Math

    From Ginny (Chemistry):

I really enjoy the teaching style and the small group setting at the tuition centre. The teaching approach has helped me better understand the chapters and identify my weak areas. The small group setting also creates a supportive environment where I can learn alongside my friends, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.

These classes have boosted my confidence in Chemistry, especially in the chapters I used to struggle with. I would definitely recommend this tuition centre because the tutor is very friendly, and the lessons are always fun, making me look forward to each session. The practice questions are extremely helpful too, as they cover questions from every chapter and expose me to different types of questions, which has really helped me improve.

    From Sheza (Chemistry & Math):

The tuition centre allows me to continuously work on my weaknesses until I feel more comfortable and confident in answering those types of questions. The classes give me a much deeper understanding of topics, unlike school where we are often told to just memorise answers.

The lessons are really fun and help provide a significantly clearer understanding of the subject. The practice questions are also incredibly helpful, as they not only clear up concepts but the repetition of certain questions strengthens memory and understanding.

  • Sofia & Sonja | St. Hilda's Secondary | Physics

    From Sofia:

The tuition centre offers a very supportive environment with fun and interesting lessons that have made a real difference in my learning. I’m now able to understand the topics I used to struggle with, and my grades have improved as a result. The practice questions are especially helpful in identifying my weaknesses, showing me exactly what I need to work on to get better.

    From Sonja:

I really appreciate how easy it is to ask questions and clarify any doubts I have during the lessons. The tuition has helped me strengthen my Physics foundation and gain a much greater understanding of the subject. The tutors are friendly and always take the time to explain concepts thoroughly, making sure I understand them well. The notes and practice papers are incredibly useful for consolidating my learning gaps after each lesson.

  • Jazz Cheo | St. Hilda's Secondary | Math & Physics

The lessons at FAH are both casual and productive, making it easy to clarify my doubts with my teachers. For A-Math, my teacher patiently explains concepts until I fully understand, even if it takes a few tries. He simplifies the workings and teaches us different methods to solve problems, which really helps. For Physics, the use of analogies to explain complex concepts makes everything much clearer, and the practice papers we get are a huge help in exposing me to different question types, boosting my confidence in answering them.

I also appreciate that I'm able to ask questions that I didn’t get a chance to in school, and the teachers give great advice on how to present answers and study effectively. The friendly and funny nature of the tutors makes the lessons more engaging, while the simplified notes and concise practice papers help me focus on what’s important. Overall, the supportive environment and practical approach at FAH have really improved my understanding and confidence in both subjects.

  • Sholihin | Dunman Secondary | Chemistry

I really appreciate that the class sizes are small, allowing the tutor to give us personalised attention and adapt their teaching methods to suit our needs and abilities. The environment is also not too strict, making it easy to connect and talk with the tutors comfortably, which makes classes much less stressful.

The lessons have greatly helped me in Chemistry by reinforcing my understanding of various topics, especially my weaker ones. The weekly revision sets have familiarised me with common question types and taught me the techniques needed to answer them effectively. In class, I was also able to clarify any doubts I had easily, which has helped me grasp different topics more easily.

I would definitely recommend the tuition centre to my friends because the tutors are friendly and helpful. The weekly revision sets have been particularly useful in helping me tackle questions I used to struggle with, and over time, I’ve become more confident in applying the right answering techniques.

  • Gerelle Tay | CHIJ Katong Convent | Math

I really appreciate that I can always ask questions freely whenever I don’t understand something. After hearing the explanations from my the math tutor, I immediately grasp how the question is done and then practice a few more under their guidance. The lessons have helped me better understand what my school teacher says in class and have significantly improved my grades.

I would definitely recommend this tuition centre to my friends because it has given me a much better grasp of Math concepts and made learning A-Math less tedious. The resources are incredibly useful—they provide clear notes at the start, followed by practice questions that progress in difficulty. Before exams, I always go through the notes and then practice the questions, which really helps me to prepare effectively.

  • Jaden Neo | East Spring Secondary | Math

I really appreciate the patience and clear explanations during lessons, as well as the chill and comfortable learning environment. The classes have made my understanding of certain topics much clearer and helped me catch up with my schoolwork, so I’m not falling behind in class.

I would definitely recommend this tuition centre to my friends because it’s a great place to learn—comfortable, with approachable and friendly tutors. Plus, it would be even more fun to have my friends in the same class! The notes provided have been a huge help in understanding and memorising formulas, and the practice questions have familiarised me with different question types and the proper methods for solving them.
